One year ago, we said goodbye to Tennessee's fair-eastern mountains and began our trek to the land of basketball, Colts, God, and corn (sometimes in that order). Shortly after we moved here, the kids found a little friend that they'd visit every night. They didn't really do much with him, just touch him every once in a while.

Well, they are convinced that said friend is back. I don't know if he's the same one or not, but the kids certainly think so.

I'm sad to announce that the last of the Mickey Mouse Platys that I bought in Tennessee a few years ago has died. I think we were down to two after the move up here. The one I had nicknamed 'Nemo' had died shortly after the move. He was already injured and I think the transition was just too much for him. When we moved to Muncie, we lost our family's favorite pumpkin patch. The upside is we've discovered Ratliff's Christmas Tree Farm. It has almost all the trappings of the Pumpkin Patch/Corn Maze we would visit in Tennessee (sans the pig chase).  It made picking out a tree an event.  And to top it off, a Scout Troop was helping out, which probably ( Read more... )

Finally, a Hoosier recruit who actually lived up to the hype. Hasn't happened since - who, Damon Bailey? I had fun watching IU come back in the second half against the Mocs. We broke a streak this year. Didn't get to go down to the Fall Festival. One of the many exciting things about moving back to Indiana was that it put us that much closer to the Fall Festival and we didn't have to listen to Alyson ask us how much longer we were going to be in the car every 10 minutes for an eight-plus time-span. One of the biggest adjustments I've had to make in Central Indiana (aside from the fact that they don't say y'all or have sweet tea here) is distances.  I keep hearing local news that includes stuff in Chicago and I think, "Chicago?  Isn't that, like, 10 hours away?"

There were many reasons I was looking forward to moving the family to Cowan.  I was sensing God's call into full-time preaching and this just seemed like the right 'fit.'  Christy can get her teaching license in 9 months.  The kids' school has a great reputation.  We're closer to family.
